Description
Rolex “Compteur” Stopwatch Circa 1910
These extremely rare Stopwatches were believed to have been sold exclusively to Cargills of Ceylon, Sri Lanka in the early 1910’s. Fitting with that narrative and timeline this particular piece was acquired by an Australian Soldier on his way to Gallipoli in WW1, luckily both made their way home.
Case is nickel plated, serial# 173246. The Calibre# 79305 movement runs perfectly counting 5ths of a second and minutes. The case is scratched but shows the age nicely, hands are slightly off colour that shows under magnification, the porcelain dial is extremely nice with only a very fine hairline crack around 4 O’clock again only visible under a loupe.
